On October 13, 2008, O.U.T.R.A.G.E. membership hit 75 million, three times what it had been on August 17. Now, just fifteen days later, membership reached the 100 million mark! That meant more than a third of the country had joined this American revolution, and supported the dastardly deeds that this organization had initiated last January. The most surprising thing was how many people were joining - and offering monetary contributions (which were not required). Some people were sending checks tantamount to their life's savings; millions of others were sending checks for $1,000; $5,000 or $10,000.00.
Oppressed United Taxpayers Revolting Against Government Excess ( O.U.T.R.A.G.E.) was awash with cash, more than even the most ardent Republican or Democrat fund raiser could ever even imagine! People clamored to contribute to this radical organization - a group that had started out with, perhaps, a hundred thousand clandestine volunteers.
"All this money must be accurately accounted for," ordered Interim President Colin Powell. "We certainly don't want to be the subject of some horrendous financial scandal. Everything - and I mean everything - must be recorded, right down to the very last penny!" Powell had been the scapegoat for outlandish lies concerning weapons of mass destruction in Iraq; he had delivered a speech to the United Nations decrying Iraq's potential for building such weapons. Only after the fact did he realize that his Commander-In-Chief, George W. Bush, had lied to him; Bush's handlers had orchestrated the White House Iraq Group (WHIG), which had every intention of attacking Iraq months before the 9-11 disasters hit New York City and Washington, DC. Powell had been made to look like a fool - and he had therefore resigned from the Bush cabinet after an appropriate time lapse. Always the disciplined military man, Powell had never spoken out about his role as a victim in the Bush administration's shennanigans; it simply wasn't in his nature to disobey or besmirch a superior officer. This time, he was in charge; this time, there would be no 'wiggle room' when it came to financial records or any other matter of importance. If O.U.T.R.A.G.E. was going to be the catalyst for a genuine American revolution, which would include the reform of shoddy American politics, Powell made it clear from the very beginning: no pranks, no sleight-of-hand, no shystering.
His Interim Vice-President, John McCain, agreed whole-heartedly. McCain, too, had been the victim of Bush administration doublespeak and lies.
O.U.T.R.A.GE. had collected billions - actually, hundreds of billions - of U.S. dollars. The two temporary leaders were determined that this money would be spent propitiously with the full knowledge and consent of the people.
One hundred million U.S. citizens (including, amazingly, millions of high school students and young children who sent in portions of their savings or allowances) were looking at O.U.T.R.A.G.E. as the organization that could save the U.S.A. from total extirpation. Initial reaction to the O.U.T.R.A.G.E. bombings had been shock and awe....but as citizens understood the theory, and recognized why the riff-raff at the top had to be exterminated, people gradually - then, overwhelmingly - came on board. The two horrific natural disasters added to the country's haste in joining an organization that was obviously capable of performing astounding feats of greatness.
One hundred million O.U.T.R.A.G.E. members. It was a mandate from "we the people"....and O.U.T.R.A.G.E. was up to the task of reforming the United States of America. Even after the elections, O.U.T.R.A.G.E. would remain a viable and visible entity in reshaping the government. Powell and McCain wanted to ensure that the organization's integrity and honor would remain totally intact. So far, graft and corruption had not reared its ugly head; but, with so much money available, this organization was as vulnerable as the Republican or Democratic political parties used to be. Money begets power. Power corrupts. It was of absolute necessity that not one single penny be expended without full explanation to the people, and without their complete agreement.
